Professional

In his nearly 40 years in the real estate and mortgage industries, Charles has worked with National Life of Vermont/National Property Advisors, The Citadel Group of Atlanta, Savitar (MONY), Hollywood Inc, and First Federal of Broward in such capacities as VP Asset Management, Director Troubled Assets, VP Property Management, Commercial Property Analyst, Asset Manager, and Director REO.  Nationally, he has managed or transacted thousands of properties; from Regional Malls and Community Shopping Centers to Suburban and CBD Office, to Institutional Distribution/Industrial to smaller multi-unit apartments and moderate to affluent single-family homes.  Charles has also renovated his own investment properties and has owned his own mortgage and commercial roof survey companies (serving such clients as Allstate Ins, Progressive Ins, Colonial Properties, Crain Eng’g and Publix Supermarkets.

Through the years, Charles earned several of the more recognized industry designations from the Institute of Real Estate Management/NAR, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and the Building Owners and Managers Association.  He has spoken or taught at various local and national seminars, received numerous professional awards, has co-hosted his own radio show ‘In the Know’, and has been called as an expert witness on several occasions. Charles is also an Alumnus of Leadership Broward (Class III).  But he is most proud of his daughter, Lauren!

Personal

Charles is an avid offshore angler and mate (holding a 100-ton Captain’s License STCV), fishing in such exotic venues as Australia, Venezuela, Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the Virgin Islands and Bahamas; and particularly enjoys the competition and comraderie of tournament billfishing.  He also plays tennis and volleyball when his busy schedule permits.

Charles is a strong believer in giving back to the community and to helping those less fortunate.  Though he prefers to keep most of his activities in this regard private; recently he has supported charitable causes re pancreatic cancer and Parkinson’s for close personal reasons.  Charles and his partner of 20 years, Cecile Intriago, have taught part-time at local schools to help educate both students and teachers about real estate, finance, and basic business.  In the 1990s and early 2000s, Charles and Cecile were appointed by Governors Bush and Crist as volunteers with The Local Advocacy Council (an independent oversight authority of children’s daycare and senior living facilities); in one high-profile case they were material in the mandatory closing of one of the most abusive centers in Broward.  He is also a 38-year member BPOE.

In addition to her proven real estate experience, Cecile has over 20 years in the finance business, (which has proven to be of material value when working with certain prospective buyers).   Prior, Cecile spent 17 years with Eastern Airlines where she served in Operations and Sales, earning ‘Agent of the Month’ for Miami International Airport.   Cecile was also a legal secretary at a prominent Dade county law firm and holds an Associates Degree in Psychology. Born in Quito, Ecuador, South America and moving to the U.S. as a child, Cecile is fluent in both English and Spanish; her language skills being particularly helpful with foreign national clients in the South Florida real estate markets.   Personally, Cecile is Chair of The Local Advocacy Council (LAC), a volunteer organization under the direction of the Governor which monitors children’s day-care facilities, foster care and adult retirement/group homes.
